ISU Outages & Alerts

  • 11/21/2009 12:00amNetwork: Network Maintenance
  • On Saturday, November 21, Telecommunications and Networking will be upgrading wireless controllers that will affect campus academic and administrative buildings, as well as Hewett, Manchester, Haynie, Wilkins, and Wright residence halls. Redbird Arena, Hancock Stadium, and the Kaufman Football Building will not be affected by this maintenance

    On Sunday, November 22, Telecommunications and Networking will be performing maintenance on the campus network and Voice-over-IP (VoIP) systems.

    The following buildings will be without network access during this maintenance:
    • Felmley Hall of Science and Annex
    • Julian Hall (building only, the Julian Hall datacenter will not be affected by this outage)
    • Moulton Hall
    Between 8am and 10am, the following systems will be intermittently unavailable:
    • iCampus Portal
    • Welcome2ISU
    • ISU Web Server
    • Blackboard
    • ISU Web Mail
    • my.ilstu.edu Personal Blogs and Websites
    • LDAP
    Between 8am and Noon, the campus will experience intermittent VoIP telephone and voicemail services.  The campus Ericsson telephone services will not be affected during this outage.

  • It has been reported to the Help Desk that some people have received the following phishing email.

    This fake email was not sent by Illinois State University. The University will never ask for your password in this manner via email. If you receive this email, do not reply to it. Never send your password in email. For more info, see [1364] Recognizing "ILSTU TEAM" phishing scam emails.

    Important: If you replied with your password, you should immediately change your password via the ULID Password Change web page. If you are unable to change your password, you may reset it yourself using the Password Self-Reset web page. Or you may have your password reset in person with your University ID at the Help Desk office in Julian Hall 115.

    Here is a sample received by the Help Desk:
    Dear Account User

    This EMail is from WebEMail Management and we are sending it to every Mail EMail User Accounts Owner for safety. we are having congestions due to the anonymous registration of Mail accounts so we are shutting down some Mail accounts and your account was among those to be deleted.

    We,are sending this eMail to you so that you can verify and let us know if you still want to use this account. If you are still interested please confirm your account by filling the space below.Your User name, password, date of birth and your country information would be needed to verify your account.

    Due to the congestion in all Mail backusers and removal of all unused Mail Accounts, Mail would be shutting down all unused Accounts, You willhave to confirm your E-Mail by filling out your Login Information below after clicking the reply Mailtton, or your account will be suspended within 24 hours for security reasons.

  • Maintenance will be performed on Blackboard over the Thanksgiving Break, from 9 am - 1 pm on Wednesday, November 25. Blackboard will be unavailable during this time.

  • Earlier today, the reception of local TV channels on the campus cable television system was disrupted. Telecommunications & Networking is aware of the problem and is currently working with the vendor to resolve it.

  • DAT Required: 5802
    The Generic PSW.y!bfb virus has been reported on campus. The security team in Telecommunications & Networking has identified a number of computers that have been infected by this virus. When an infection is discovered, the appropriate technical support staff are notified. For McAfee VirusScan to detect this virus, DAT 5802 (or higher) is required.
